Our Story
A reflection of where we come from
MEYLONG was born from a simple idea: what we carry can remind us of who we are.
For Tibetans living away from the Himalayas, culture is not always something we can see around us every day. It lives in our language, our memories, our family stories, our traditions, and in the small things we choose to carry with us.
That is where MEYLONG begins.
What does MEYLONG mean?
Meylong means “mirror” in Tibetan.
A mirror reflects what is in front of it, but for us, it reflects something more: identity, memory, and belonging.
We chose the name because we believe the things we surround ourselves with can become reflections of who we are.
What we carry can hold memories.
What we wear can express identity.
What we use every day can remind us where we come from.
MEYLONG is our reflection of Tibetan identity through modern design.
Tibetan identity in the diaspora
Being part of a diaspora can mean carrying different worlds at once.
We grow up in new places, speak different languages, experience different cultures, and build new lives. Yet alongside all of that, there is something that connects us to where we come from.
Sometimes it is a word our parents taught us.
Sometimes it is a family tradition.
Sometimes it is a story we've heard many times.
Sometimes it is simply a feeling that is difficult to explain.
For many Tibetans, identity is not something fixed in one place. It travels with us.
MEYLONG celebrates that journey.
We want to create objects that can quietly carry a piece of that identity into everyday life, wherever we are.
Culture in everyday life
We don't believe culture belongs only in museums, books, celebrations, or special occasions.
It belongs in everyday life.
It can be found in the objects we use, the designs we choose, the stories we share, and the meanings we pass from one generation to the next.
That is why we chose something as ordinary and personal as a phone case as our starting point.
A phone is something many of us carry everywhere.
So why shouldn't it carry something meaningful too?
MEYLONG brings cultural inspiration into an object that is already part of everyday life.
Our approach to Tibetan design
Tibetan culture is rich, diverse, and constantly evolving.
We don't want to simply reproduce traditional symbols and place them on products. We want to explore how Tibetan heritage can inspire contemporary design.
Our approach is to take inspiration from the stories, ideas, aesthetics, values, and visual language connected to Tibetan culture, and reinterpret them in ways that feel natural today.
For us, respecting heritage doesn't mean keeping it frozen in time.
It means allowing it to evolve, be reinterpreted, and be carried forward.
We want our designs to feel unmistakably connected to their roots while still belonging to the world we live in today.
Made for those who carry their roots
MEYLONG is for Tibetans who carry their heritage with them.
For those who grew up surrounded by Tibetan culture.
For those who grew up between cultures.
For those who are rediscovering their roots.
For those who want to keep a connection alive for the next generation.
And for anyone who appreciates the beauty and depth of Tibetan culture.
You don't have to be in the Himalayas to carry a piece of them with you.
Your roots can travel.
More than a phone case
MEYLONG begins with phone cases, but the idea is bigger than a phone case.
We want to create everyday objects that carry meaning.
Objects that can start conversations.
Objects that can preserve memories.
Objects that can express identity.
Objects that make culture feel present in everyday life.
As MEYLONG grows, we hope to explore new forms, new designs, and new ways of telling stories inspired by Tibetan culture and the experiences of its diaspora.
Looking forward
Culture survives not only by remembering the past, but by finding ways to live in the present.
MEYLONG is our small contribution to that process.
We want to create a brand where heritage and contemporary design can meet, where identity can be expressed without explanation, and where the things we carry can remind us of the things that matter.
Because wherever life takes us, our roots can come with us.
MEYLONG
Reflect Who You Are.
Reflect Your Roots.
Reflect Your Culture.
